The Smarter Way to a Faster Claim

A guideline for submitting an Atradius Credit Insurance Claim

By David Wood, Manager, SRM & Claims, Atradius

In the current environment of increased risk, with more customer failures and increasing pressures on cash flows, the last thing your company needs is a delay in claim payment causing you to suffer from exactly what your credit insurance policy was designed to protect you from: cash flow problems.

So how can you ensure that your claim is processed in the quickest time possible?  The answer to this question is simple: by properly preparing your claims submission before sending it to Atradius.

This may seem obvious to many. However the vast majority of claims submitted to Atradius are not fully documented or do not clearly explain the unique circumstances surrounding the claim. No business would pay an invoice without reviewing the validity of the payment request. With credit insurance, the fundamental payment control process is just the same, and just like any other business Atradius must make sure your payment request is valid and in line with your policy before sending money out of the company.

So how can you make sure you supply all the necessary details to demonstrate the validity of your claim? On the claim form there is a list of requirements for documents that need to be supplied with the claim - use this as your guide to prepare the documentation. We have also been working on a simple, yet effective Claims Checklist to make this process easier. When you experience a claimable event, simply dig out the checklist, gather the requested documents and send these to Atradius along with the completed claim form.

What a lot of businesses don't realise is that Atradius can’t begin work on a claim until all documents have been provided, so to prevent us having to spend time chasing you for the documentation we need, make use of this handy Claims Checklist to ensure that we can start the ball rolling on your claim as quickly as possible.

Still want a little more help? Accompanying the Checklist will be a trouble shooting guide. This will give you the insight on the sort of questions we may need answered before we can process your claim. As you know the unique circumstances surrounding your claim better than anyone, you are best suited to providing us with all the information we need.

So to get the money from a valid claim without delay make sure to provide all information required upfront, give explanations for any unique events and watch out for the new Checklist and trouble shooting guide being sent to an inbox near you!
